Please Mind Your Head – the nuts and bolts of being an Information Architect

About this blog

I work (some of the time) as a freelance Information Architect in London, England. I have been designing and building websites for longer than I remember. Let’s put it this way, when I was at university as a mature student in 1988 I had my own email address – but did not know anyone outside the campus with an email address to, er, email.

I have been an interactive scriptwriter, technical consultant, project manager, technical project manager, producer and senior producer. Now I choose to be an Information Architect because i like designing things! Much more fun than compiling project schedules which show how other people should design things and I only get to check their timesheets.

The point of this blog is to give my view on IA and UXD issues from the perspective of someone who does it for a living. I don’t lecture about it, I don’t write books about it, I just do it.

I read some of the stuff that is written about IA/ UXD on the web and to be honest it is completely divorced from every day life. All good stuff I am sure, but not much use to me most of the time. So I hope this is of use to you – if you just want to get things done the right way.
